「はやい」の英語 soon, early, fast, quickの違い

「早い・速い」を意味する英単語は、soon, early, fast, quickなどたくさんあります。どれも使用頻度が高い重要な単語ですが、違いが分かりづらいので整理してみますね。

soon すぐ後/まもなく

• 

soonは、(今/その時から)すぐ後、(今/その時から)まもなく
という意味で、品詞は副詞です。

• She will be back soon.
  (彼女はすぐに戻ります。)
• It will soon be dark.
  (まもなく外は暗くなります。)
• I’ll be there soon.
  (もうすぐ着きます。)

early 時間が早い

earlyは、時間的に早い、(ある期間の中で)早い、
という意味で、形容詞、副詞、両方の働きがあります。

まずは形容詞のearly(早い)の例文から
